Around town with Jacob

Friday I went on Jacob's field trip around the town of Frederick. We first visited the old City Hall building which is now the museum. We learned all about our towns coal mining history there. Next, we went to the Town Hall and had a tour. Jacob got to sit in one of the elective trustee's chairs and vote on a "pretend" law. After that we went to the Police Station where the kids learned what would happen if they were arrested. They took turns sitting in the back of the police car and were even put in holding cells! Then we headed off to the Fire Station and climbed around in the truck and got to see how the firemen live on a daily basis. Everyone we visited that day was super nice and were very friendly! At the end of our tours, we met at a park for lunch.
I have to say the best part of the day was the very end when I was getting ready to leave, Jacob came up to me and gave me a hug out of the blue and told me he loved me. Moments like those are priceless. I have enjoyed being able to volunteer with each of my kid's this week. I am thankful to be married to such a wonderful person that makes it possible for me to do all these fun things. Even though I wasn't home much this week, I really enjoyed the time I had with my kids on an individual basis. My mom did that with her kids and I think that is an important thing to do with my kids as well. I remember how special it made me feel and I am hoping to make some of those same kind of memories with my kids.
