Around town with Jacob

Friday I went on Jacob's field trip around the town of Frederick. We first visited the old City Hall building which is now the museum. We learned all about our towns coal mining history there. Next, we went to the Town Hall and had a tour. Jacob got to sit in one of the elective trustee's chairs and vote on a "pretend" law. After that we went to the Police Station where the kids learned what would happen if they were arrested. They took turns sitting in the back of the police car and were even put in holding cells! Then we headed off to the Fire Station and climbed around in the truck and got to see how the firemen live on a daily basis. Everyone we visited that day was super nice and were very friendly! At the end of our tours, we met at a park for lunch.
I have to say the best part of the day was the very end when I was getting ready to leave, Jacob came up to me and gave me a hug out of the blue and told me he loved me. Moments like those are priceless. I have enjoyed being able to volunteer with each of my kid's this week. I am thankful to be married to such a wonderful person that makes it possible for me to do all these fun things. Even though I wasn't home much this week, I really enjoyed the time I had with my kids on an individual basis. My mom did that with her kids and I think that is an important thing to do with my kids as well. I remember how special it made me feel and I am hoping to make some of those same kind of memories with my kids.

A day with Dillon

Last Thursday I had the privledge on going to the Botanic Garden with Dillon and his 2nd grade class. Although not everything was blooming quite yet, the things that we saw were absolutely beautiful! The weather was perfect and we had a great time seeing all of the different types of plants together. There was alot of walking involved and he did great! I would love to go back sometime again when even more things are blooming! Thanks for the fun day Dillon!

School with Courtney

Can I just tell you how much I love volunteering at my kids' school? It is fun to see their daily routines and what they are learning about. This week I am volunteering for each of my kids on a different day. Monday was Courtney's turn and I got to help in her classroom, in computer lab, and at recess. I took my camera along and got some fun pictures!

Something smells good...

Since last night it hasn't stopped raining. I love the smell of rain. It just smells so clean and puts me in a good mood. I tend to find myself baking too when the weather is like this, so today I made bread with my kids. They love helping roll out the dough! They also like setting the dough in the pans and covering them with a towel or as we call it "putting the babies to bed". We made 4 loaves of white and 3 loaves of wheat. The bread turned out great and we had a fun morning making it together. My whole house smells like fresh homemade bread.... one of my very favorite smells! Here are some pictures I took when I didn't have messy hands! :)

Easter activities

The night before Easter. we colored eggs together.
On Easter Sunday, we went to church and then had the Tone's over for dinner and did an indoor egg hunt since the weather was not cooperating.
Monday we went into Longmont and had an egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpa's house. We had a great Easter! Learned about Jesus, saw some friends and family, and had way too much candy!

New family wheels

Thank you to our friend Rich for helping us track down the exact van we have been wanting! It is a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country Limited in the clearwater blue color. It is going to be a great van for our family.
